Hmong July 4th Tournaments

In 2010, this event will hit its 30th Anniversary.  This soccer tournament includes not only soccer but also volleyball, top, and new to the tournament, flag football.  Hmong people travel from all over the US and even other countries to attend this 2-3 day event held at Como Park in St. Paul, MN.  It is held every 4th of July.  Attendance for this event can get as high as 500,000 people during the 3 day period.  This event not only includes sports but you will find food and vendors for clothing, Hmong movies, Hmong CD’s, and Hmong medicines.  You will see many people in traditional Hmong attire at this event also. 


Hmong New Years 

Hmong New Years is a big event in the Hmong community.  Many families travel to be a part of these extravagant celebrations.  The New Year’s celebration consists of food and celebrations.  In the US you will find that the New Year’s celebration last at least 4 to 5 days and these events will include sports tournaments, pageants, and other contest.  Attendees have the option to where whatever they would like to but this is one times out of the year that Hmong Americans will were their traditional Hmong clothing.  The two biggest Hmong New Year’s celebrations are held in St. Paul, MN and Fresno, CA, with the total attendance in the upwards of hundreds of thousands in the 4 to 5 day span.
